Meet Priya, our Software Engineer. - QikServe   Qikserve  ·  1 minute read *As part of our QikServe: The People series, we sat down with Priya to find out about her first months working with the company as a Software Engineer.* “My name is Priya and I joined QikServe in February of this year. My main responsibilities include the whole software lifecycle – so development, testing and code review. When a requirement comes in to our team, first we split up the task to develop, then we start to test the project and carry out a code review. During development we’ll collaborate a lot with other team members to discuss things like features or blockers. **Typical day** The day starts with a 10-15 minute stand-up where we discuss what we’re doing and what others are doing, and if there are any blockers. It’s a good way for me to find out what everyone is doing and how I can get help if I need it. The next part of the day involves sprint work. Our Engineering team works in sprints – so every two weeks we plan sprints, carry out the work, then review how it went and what improvements could be made to keep us performing better. **The culture** I enjoy the flexibility to work at QikServe, the freedom within the team and the collaboration within the team. If I’m not sure what I’m doing I can discuss my problem with anyone and together we will decide on what we’re going to do. **What attracted you to QikServe**? My husband came here \[to Scotland\] first for a job. After a long break at home, looking after my child, I decided I wanted to continue my career. I found out about the opening at QikServe through an agency. When I read the job description, and the article written by our CEO about the company’s journey, I was inspired, and decided I wanted to give it a go.
